This was Jimmy McIntosh's first listing. Ally McAdam and Ken Drummond drove out to Blairgowrie to secure his signature he stayed on the main Perth Road and we had to convince his mother that we were the club he should join. Who recommend Jimmy Mackintosh to us is unknown but he was to prove an invaluable signing and the first real country boy to join Letham at any level.

Mr D K Laird, County Youth Organiser is to take up a new position in Sheffield from 1st May 1967. Pity as he was the driving force in resurrecting the Under 18 City Boy Association and was the association secretary and treasurer. Hopefully, the results may receive a better coverage by his replacement.

Letham City Boys V Tay Thistle ( Final Norie Miller Cup - South Inch )
Letham 1 Tay Thistle 0

On Wednesday night on the South Inch, Letham regained the Norie Miller Cup when they defeated Tay Thistle in a close game. The goal came after only two minutes play and try as they might the Tay Thistle forwards could not find their way past the tight Letham defence. The cup was presented to the Letham captain by Mr D K Laird, County Youth Organiser and Association secretary. Mr Laird who takes up a new appointment in Sheffield on 1st May was himself presented with a tea set by Mr A McAdam on behalf of the Association

Photograph of the presentation appeared in the P.A. page 18 on Saturday 22nd April 1967.

Saturday 22nd April 1967

Letham City Boys V Tay Thistle ( Final - PA Cup - South Inch )
Tay Thistle 1 - Letham 1

This was an exciting match with the result finishing just right. Peebles gave Letham the lead after 25 minutes and that is how it remained until the 20th minute of the second half when Robertson hit a glorious equaliser for Thistle. Both teams missed numerous chances and this may be put down to cup nerves.

The winners of Section A play the winners of Section B for the League Championship.
Letham 3 - Tay Thistle 2

Letham are league champions. In a hard fought game good football was not the order of the night. Inside-left Forret gave Letham an early lead and this is how it stood at half time. Herman increased Letham's lead early in the second half. At this stage Thistle were on top but there was nobody up front to take advantage of numerous chances. With 10 minutes to go tragedy for Letham when Beatson lobbed the ball over his keepers head into the net. At this stage Thistle were throwing everything into attack but their finishing was woeful. Macintosh eased the strain when he scored Letham's third with 6 minutes to go. In the dying seconds McKechnie scored Thistle's second. The "League Championship" Shield and the "runners up" Shield were handed over by Willie Coburn of St Johnstone.

Derek Brown signs senior with St Johnstone albeit via Kinnoull Juniors.

What a great season for Letham City Boys. Some of the boys coming through were in our Minor team. What an inspiration Ally McAdam is for the boys. He certainly does not hang about when he is after a new player. This was an exceptional team and some of the boys went on to join Juveniles teams including our own and some went Junior. We were disappointed that Peter Orange signed for Scone Thistle Juveniles mid season but then again he was unable to gain a regular place in this great side. Three of this team eventually sign for St Johnstone. We do like winning the Norie Miller Cup.
