Match postponed as no pitch available. Training as usual on Tuesday at 6.45 p.m. in the clubrooms.

Saturday 11th September 1971

Letham City Boys V St Columba's ( League - Away )
Owing to the small Inch being closed, St Columba's play their home game against last season's League Champions, Letham at the North Inch. It will be a surprise if the reigning champions do not win this one.
Team: all players report to clubrooms at 2.15 p.m.

St Columba's 1 - Letham 13
Letham met St Columba's on the North Inch and it was a case of Letham showing that they had no intention of giving up their League title easily. St Columba's were no match for them and we had the score of 13-1 in favour of the Champions. St Columba's have not been able to make up for the players lost form last year but no doubt they will improve. Letham on the other hand must be highly delighted.

Saturday 18th September 1971

Letham City Boys V St Johns ( League - Away )

St Johns - 2 Letham 9
St Johns tried hard on the North Inch to show they were no pushovers but the power of Letham told once more and they finished up easy winners

Saturday 25th September 1971

Letham City Boys V Railway Athletic ( League - Home )
Team: Will all Letham players report to the Railway Clubrooms, St Leonards Bank at 2.15 p.m.

Railway Athletic 3 - Letham 3
The Railway-Letham game had a nail biting finish with Railway equalising late on and Letham having a player ordered off in the dying seconds.

Saturday 2nd October 1971

Letham City Boys V Orwell Thistle ( League - Home )

Letham 6 - Orwell Thistle 0
In the first half Letham were continually being caught in the Orwell offside trap. At half time the score was 2-0,but with Orwell doing a bit of attacking especially down the right wing it looked far from settled. However with Dott at left-back having a good game for Letham most of the visitors attacks failed. In the second half Letham improved and scored four more.

Saturday 13th November 1971

Letham City Boys V St Columba's ( 1st. Rd. Norie Miller Cup - Home )
Letham should account for St Columba's, although the Saints have much improved of late. Letham are at home to St Columba's and should qualify for the next round. They have the stronger defence and a match winner in the forward line in McAra, when he is in the mood.. St Columba's are steadily building their team at the moment, but I don't see any danger to Letham here.

Letham 9 - St Columba's 2
Letham as expected accounted for St Columba's

Saturday 4th December 1971

Letham City Boys V Southend ( 1st. Rd. PA Cup - Home )
The game on the North Inch should be a most interesting one. Southend will be hoping to reverse the result of their league meeting with Letham. A replay might well be needed to decide who goes on.
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair, Dixon, Kelly, Airth, McAra, A Henry, P Henry, Smith

Southend 2 - Letham 3

Saturday 11th December 1971

Letham City Boys V Orwell Thistle ( 1st. Rd. Lord Weir Cup - Home )
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair, A Henry, Kelly, Airth, Smith, McAra, P Henry, Dixon

Letham 6 - Orwell Thistle 0
What can one say about this score-line. When we all thought that Orwell were going to be a team to be reckoned with, they came to town and gave one of their worst displays of the season. However all credit to Letham, who took advantage of mistakes in the Thistle defence. Best for Letham were Dott and McAra.

Saturday 18th December 1971

Letham City Boys V Jeanfield Swifts ( League - Away )
League leaders Jeanfield visit last season's champions Letham. Can the Letham team upset them? On last weeks performance the answer must be in the affirmative. However, as we all know, anything can happen in football. It will be close and the odd goal may settle the issue.
Team from: Simpson,Gunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair,Kelly, Dixon, Airth,McAra, A Henry,P Henry,Smith.

Jeanfield Swifts ??? - Letham ???
No result in the P.A. but it appears Letham did not win.

Monday 3rd January 1972

Letham City Boys V Jeanfield Swifts ( Semi-final Murray Donaldson - Home )
The festive season is on us and we have no games on Saturday. However Monday sees a "battle royal" between cup holders Jeanfield Swifts and Letham F.C. in the semi-final of the Murray Donaldson Cup. Can Letham lower the colours of Jeanfield who remain undefeated or will the young Swifts march on? One thing is certain, it should be a stunning game and we hope supporters who do not travel to Aberdeen with St Johnstone will turn up and cheer the young lads on.
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair, Kelly, A Henry, Airth, Dixon, McAra, Smith, P Henry.

Letham 2 - Jeanfield Swifts 1
Letham quicker to the ball took the lead and held it until 20 minutes from time when Jeanfield throwing everything into attack equalised. However, Letham although reduced to 10 men took the lead again with only 5 minutes left. Best for Letham were Dott, Bennett and McAra . A Henry deserves credit for his run over the halfway line and surviving three tackles to lay on the winning goal. For Jeanfield who suffered their first defeat of the season Devanney,Milne and Murray were best.

Saturday 8th January 1972

Letham City Boys V Railway Athletic ( 2nd. Rd. Lord Weir Cup - Home )
Letham F.C. have railway Athletic as visitors in the National Cup. This is an interesting tie. Letham, fresh from their victory over Swifts will be looking for another success. Railway, after having a couple of weeks rest will be 'raring to go' so a good game can be expected. I would settle for a draw here.
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, Edwards, Sinclair, Kelly, Dixon, Airth, McAra, A Henry, Smith, P Henry.

Letham 3 - Railway Athletic 2
Railway visited Letham in the other "Scottish" tie. This was a game that could have gone either way, but the homesters just had the edge at the finish. It wasn't a game, which reached the expected standard, although it had its moments of good football. Railway will play worse and still win. Letham on the other hand could play many games like this and still be lucky.

Saturday 15th January 1972

Letham City Boys V Railway Athletic ( League - Home )
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, A Henry, Edwards, Sinclair, Kelly, Dixon, Airth, McAra, P Henry, Smith

Letham 3 - Railway Athletic 3
Letham played host to Railway Athletic and both indeed were glad to settle for a share of the spoils.

No fixture as St Johnstone V Celtic

Sunday 23rd January 1972

Trial match postponed

Saturday 29th January 1972

Letham City Boys V Jeanfield Swifts ( 3rd. Rd. Lord Weir Cup - Away )
Today once again sees us at the stage in the Scottish Cup wondering who goes forward to the all in draw. Will it be Jeanfield who have had a very good season so far or will it be Letham again as they did last year. Jeanfield are a very good side, strong in defence and with a hard-hitting forward line when they are in the mood. Letham's form this year has been in and out but they too can be good when in the mood.
Team from- Players meet at clubrooms at 1.15 when team will be selected.

Jeanfield Swifts 1 - Letham 1
As expected the Scottish tie between Jeanfield and Letham was a nail biting game right to the final whistle. Letham took the lead in the third minute and looked like increasing it when Jeanfield equalised just before the interval.
The second half was cut and thrust all the way, both teams missing chances. However a draw was a fair result. The replay is this Saturday.
Best for Swifts were Stewart,Devanney and Hoolichan. For Letham, Sinclair proved the outstanding player on the field and he was ably backed by Dott, Edwards and McAra.

Saturday 12th February 1972

Letham City Boys V Jeanfield Swifts ( 3rd. Rd. Replay - Lord Weir Cup - Away )
Team from: Simpson, Dunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair, A Henry, Naughton, Airth, Dixon, McAra, Kelly, P Henry
Players meet at clubrooms at 1.15

Jeanfield Swifts 3 - Letham 2
Letham had chances to win the Scottish replay but somehow just could not take them.Jeanfield on the other hand took three that came their way and on this display were probably the sweeter moving side. We take our hats off to these lads for providing a very entertaining game.

Saturday 19th February 1972

Letham City Boys V Letham United ( 1st. Rd. Bob Croll Cup - Home )
Team: All players meet at clubrooms at 2.15 for team selection.

Letham 2 - Letham United 1
Letham played some good football in the trophy tie and won by the odd goal in three. As has been said before United are one of the best teams when in the mood but this was one where the opposite was the case.

League positions as at Saturday 19th February 1972
                     P W L D F A Pts

  St Johns 13 2 11 0 23 80 4
Saturday 26th February 1972

Letham City Boys V Southend ( League - Away )
At the North Inch, Letham visit Southend. This is a teaser. Both teams have good defences and are quick on the break. A draw here is definitely on the cards.

Southend 3 - Letham 9
Every time I say Letham will be pushed to draw they proceed to prove me wrong and last week was no exception. Once again the man who made Letham tick was McAra ably supported by Dott, Bennett,Sinclair and Kelly .The last named scored 5 of the goals. For Southend for whom nothing seemed to go right, Caie and Leckie gave sterling service.

Saturday 4th March 1972

Letham City Boys V Orwell Thistle ( League - Away ) (At Milnathort)
Team from: Simpson, Gunn, Dott, Bennett, Edwards, Sinclair, Kelly, Naughton, A Henry, Airth, McAra, Dixon, P Henry.
