Welcome!

Welcome to Letham F.C. which is the football arm of Letham Sports Club. The club was founded in November 1960 an over the ensuing years has played a prominent role in the development of youth football within the community of Perth.

The season 2002/03 was the re-emergence of the club in youth football after 12 years with progress since then when the club had only one amateur team and seven youth teams. For last season 2005/06 we fielded 20 teams including 2 girls only. Success on the field did not reach the dizzy heights of season 2004/05 with only one cup success, U14 Whites. Finalists on 6 occasions: Amateurs, U15, U14 T, U14 W, U11T, Girls U12W. The Amateurs were runners up in their league championship for the second season in a row.

In order to improve "pathways for player's development", we were delighted to be appointed an official feeder club status to Preston North End F.C. early 2006. This was cemented when 20 young players from the U10's, U11's, U12's and U13's played in a round robin tournament with other feeder clubs at Preston.

The club also encourages teams to take part in Tournaments. The U14 W won at Buckie way back in August 2005 with the U10 W beaten finalists. The U15's were at Blackpool. The U10 T won at Broughty with the U11T runners up in their group losing just one decisive goal in the last match. The U10W went to Barcelona and were the very first Letham team to play abroad. The U12 T won the Plate at Cumbernauld.

We were delighted to receive funding to erect 2 portacabins. The first, officially opened by Sheena McDonald in memory of her husband Ricky, gives the club much needed additional changing accommodation and the second, which we hope to open late July 2006, will be an office, treatment room and a player's lounge/classroom.

We launched a "Soccer School" early 2006 for players under 9 years of age down to Under 8 with an intention to go down to under 6 years old. Pleased to say this has been a resounding success.

The new season 2006/07 will no doubt bring further challenges, one of which is the difficulty in finding new and replacement coaches. This regrettably has the knock on effect of reducing the number of teams we are able to operate. It is sad that, whilst we have no shortage of players wanting to play, we in turn have to release them as unable to find anyone to run the team.

Letham is now one of the biggest clubs in the East of Scotland and is pioneering in the fact that it is the first community club in Perth, with a catchment area not only including the Letham, but also the neighboring estates of Burghmuir, Oakbank, Western Edge, Tulloch, Hillyland etc. The teams play their home matches at Seven Acres Park, Newhouse Road, Letham, Perth, although due to the number of teams some matches will have to be played at other venues. The Letham area is a large post war suburb of Perth.

Finally, we are indebted to Malcolm Kinross, Iain Ballingall and Corrado Mella who have ensured that the Club has a well laid out website which is continually updated.
