Season 2001/2002 - Letham Amateurs

15 May 2002
Letham Amateurs completed their season with a 3-2 victory over Stanley Amateurs at Seven Acres Park. Goals by Paul Must, Peter Simpson and David Lyall ensured the points stayed with The Tangerines. Only a few days earlier they also defeated their opponents in the away league fixture by 1-0 thus ending the title aspirations of their long-standing rivals. The team finished mid table in the league which was in keeping with the expectations of manager Bob Deuchar and coach Alan Ferguson. Considering this was a young and comparatively inexperienced side having been promoted the season earlier they did however at times produce a brand and style of football, which was in keeping of the Letham tradition. They were also beaten semi finalists in three cup competitions, which meant that for the first time in four years there would be no silverware to display.

Letham Amateurs wind up the season with a prize giving and disco to be held on Friday evening. Following promotion from the lower leagues it was important to the club to establish itself in the first division. Whilst no trophies were won never the less the team’s performance was in keeping with expectations.
