A systematic approach is being taken with regard to coaching/training and this will be evident at the sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evening and again tomorrow afternoon. 22 August 2003
The opening game of the season last Saturday ended with the visitors Bridgeton winning 4-3. Unlike their pre-season matches the home defence gifted their opponents two soft goals and in the end was the crucial factor between winning and losing. 29 August 2003
Last week in the league cup competition the team returned from Pitlochry with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from D Alexander and M Donaldson. On Tuesday evening last years league champions, Murray Royal secured a 4-2 win despite two goals by Steve Roy. Tomorrow the team are on their travels again when they play on the North Inch against old adversary St Johns. Players to report to Rose Terrace at 2.00p.m.

05 September 2003
Mixed fortunes last week for the team. On Thursday evening they lost to Balmoral at Blairgowrie by the odd goal in five. Scoring for Letham were S McDuff and S Roy. Paul Bullions scored with a header early in the second half but despite continuous pressure the Tangerines fell at the first hurdle in the North of Tay Cup as they lost two simple goals in the first 45 minutes to Arbroath Harp in a match played in a sporting manner at Seven Acres. There is no game this weekend. Next week the team move indoors for coaching for the duration of the winter period. Players are reminded that the sessions will be on Thursday evening commencing at 7.00p.m. prompt at Perth High School.

24 October 2003
There was no fixture last weekend, which gave the opportunity for some of the long list of injuries to recover. This week Balmoral visit Seven Acres and no doubt the Tangerines will be seeking revenge for the league defeat at Blairgowrie earlier in the season. Players meet Seven Acres at 2.00p.m. Reminder also that coaching this week is on Thursday evening at Perth High School.

07 November 2003
The team safely negotiated a potentially difficult Scottish Cup Tie at Pitlochry last week coming home with a 3-1 victory thanks to goals by Andy Rigby, Steve McDuff and Peter Simpson against Vale of Atholl. This week they again play Balmoral at Blairgowrie in the 3rd,round of the Perthshire Cup. Last Saturday at Balmoral the Tangerines fought back from being two goals down to level the scores after 90 minutes with goals by Stephen Fitzpatrick and Gavin Smith to force the game into extra time. Lack of concentration resulted in the loss of two goals within three minutes immediately after kick off. Andy Rigby pulled another one back but then the home team found the defensive gaps and ran out comfortable winners. Due to the big game at Hampden there is no fixture this weekend.

21 November 2003
With no game last weekend, this allowed some of the longer term injured to make a recovery. The team’s recent form means that there will have to be an improvement if they are to overcome Murray Royal. Players meet at Bell’s Sports Centre at 1.30p.m.

28 November 2003
Last Saturday against last season league champions-Murray Royal the tangerines appeared to be down and out as they trailed the home team by six goals to two midway through the second half. However, fortunes changed and Murray’s had no answer to Letham’s fast passing game with the home team pleased to hear the final whistle with the scores level at six apiece. Scorers for Letham were Archie Leckie, Andy Rigby, Steve McDuff (2) including a penalty kick, Kevin Simpson and Gavin Smith. This week the team travel to Pitlochry for a third round tie against Vale of Atholl in the Ashleigh Cup. Letham, the holders no doubt will be buoyed up following last week’s incredible draw. Their opponents Robslee play in the Greater Glasgow Amateur League and have a home ground at Giffnock. Not a lot is known of the opposition except that they have only tasted defeat twice all season and appear to be an extremely capable side. Kick off is 2.00p.m. Players are requested to meet Newhouse Road at 1.00 p.m. prompt.

12 December 2003
A weakened team had to take the field due to injuries for this 3rd, Round Scottish Cup Tie against Robslee. In the end Letham had over 70% of the play but could not find the net. Steve Fitzpatrick opened the scoring for the Tangerines but had to rely on a headed goal by Alan Ferguson (Fergie) to force a replay at Giffnock tomorrow. Players meet White Horse at 10.45 a.m. prompt

19 December 2003
The team advanced in to the fourth round of the Scottish Cup with an emphatic 5-0 win over Robslee at Giffnock last Saturday. In poor weather conditions it was not perhaps the best day to wear their new white and tangerine strips. All the team played their part but Kevin Simpson was the man of the match with four goals and Peter Simpson added a fifth near the end. The team can now look forward to a home tie against a team from Carstairs in the next round to be played early January. There is no fixture for this weekend.

26 December 2003

09 January 2004

The visitors, who hail from Carstairs have all ready accounted for Burrelton in an earlier round so the Tangerines will have to be at their best to progress. Players meet clubhouse at 12.30p.m.

16 January 2004
Interest in the Scottish Cup fizzled out with a lack lustre display at home to Monteith and tamely went down by three goals to one. Steve McDuff scoring from the penalty spot. It is back to league business this week when Auchterarder are the visitors. Players meet Seven Acres at 1.00p.m.

23 January 2003
In a hard fought game last week against Auchterarder the home team rued the missed chances including a penalty kick and had to settle for a draw, thanks to a good goal by David Alexander. following a corner kick. This week it is off to play old rivals at Stanley. Players meet Seven Acres at 12.45p.m. prompt

30 January 2004
Missed chances proved costly for The Tangerines when they played Stanley last Saturday .A late goal by David Alexander was too late to salvage a point in a disappointing 2-1 defeat. This week brings Comrie to Seven Acres and the team will have to find it’s goal scoring touch to improve their league position. Players meet 12.45 p.m.

06 February 2004
After last week’s lay off due to ground conditions, the club welcomes Alyth to Seven Acres for a league match. Players meet clubhouse at 12.45 p.m.

This week the team take the road to Aberfeldy in a crucial league encounter against Breadalbane. Players meet Seven Acres at 12.30p.m.

27 February 2004
The team kept alive their chances of staying in the first division by defeating Breadalbane at Aberfeldy by 6 goals to 3. This week brings Stanley to Seven Acres on Saturday and all their long-suffering supporters will be hoping that the recent improved form continues. Players meet Newhouse Road at 1.30p.m.

05 March 2004
Game last week was postponed due to frozen pitch. This week the team face old rivals Roselea in an away league fixture. Roselea need the points to keep their championship aspirations alive and Letham likewise but to keep their first division status. Players meet South Inch Pavilion at 1.30p.m.

12 March 2004
The Tangerines seriously dented Roselea’s championship aspirations with a fine 7-2 victory last Saturday on the South Inch. Goals by Mark Donaldson (2), Gav Smith (2), Davie Alexander (2), and Andy Rigby kept their hopes of staving off relegation very much alive. They will be hoping this form continues on Saturday when St John’s are the visitors. Players meet Seven Acres at 1.15p.m.

19 March 2004
The team may rue the missed chances to increase their lead when 2-1 up against St Johns on Saturday to cruelly go down by the odd goal in five. Scorers for Letham were Gav Smith and Mark Donaldson. This means that they will now have the added pressure of having to win their remaining fixtures to retain their first division status. This week Roselea are the visitors in a cup-tie and players should meet Seven Acres at 1.00 p.m.

26 March 2004
The cup game last week against Roselea was postponed due to the pitch being waterlogged. Tomorrow Breadalbane from Aberfeldy are the visitors in a very important league encounter. If the Tangerines are to retain their first division status then it is essential that they collect the three points. Failure to win at home has been the main problem this season. Players meet Seven Acres at 1.15 p.m.

30 March 2004
Outdoors coaching will be tonight at Seven Acres commencing at 6.45p.m.

02 April 2004

The team have a home game against Auchterarder tomorrow in a 2nd Round Consolation Cup clash. Players meet Seven Acres at 1.30pm.

07 May 2004
Two good wins against Stanley and Comrie ensured the team’s status in the first division for next season. Last Saturday in the Consolation Cup at home to Auchterarder, the visitors held a goal advantage well into the second half. An own goal and two late goals by Mark Donaldson meant the unconvincing Tangerines advanced into the next round. This Saturday the team travel to Pitlochry for a quarter-final tie against Vale of Atholl. Players meet Seven Acres at 1.00p.m.

14 May 2004
The team took the opportunity when playing the Tangerine team to prepare for next season by playing eleven a side. What ensued was a tremendous game with end-to-end play, which delighted both sets of supporters. It would have been a travesty if the game had resulted with a result for either team. This week the whites entertain Auchterarder Primrose at Seven Acres. Timings not complete for this match so Barrie will advise.
